Clevis shackles, also known as a clevis hitch or joint, are a common fastener used in lifting hardware. The clevis fastener is a 3-piece system that consists of:

  • The clevis jaw - a narrow U-shaped piece of carbon steel, often called the jaw end.
  • The clevis pin - a rod that inserts through the U-shaped opening to secure the shackle or hitch.
  • The cotter pin - to keep the clevis pin in place at the base of the clevis.

Clevis end fittings are ideal for quick and easy connection and disconnection of chains and other lifting hardware. Our double clevis ends are ideal for quickly connecting two chains or attachment points, however they should not be used for heavy lifting.
