Bearings
Bearings are common machining components that restrict motion between two parts to a single vector or plane. Bearings are often designed to reduce friction in the plane of movement, while also providing stability to the surrounding area. There are two common types of machine bearings:
- Ball bearings - also known as anti-friction bearings, contain a rolling element constrained within a cage or body.
- Flange and sleeve bearings - also known as plain bearings, are special oil-infused bushings that allow machining rods and shafts to move freely.
